Seasons of the Church Year 2007-2008
Sundays after Pentecost
This year the time after Pentecost begins May 25 and continues until Advent. Green, the color of the paraments for the season, symbolizes growth in our lives rather than the industrial thought of making lives, love, time or money. As the world around us seems to be filled with turmoil, growing in God's community and wisdom helps us to look out into the world and ask how we can help others.
Cycle A of the lectionary (the lessons for the day) is based on Matthew. The lessons teach us how to become disciples. You will hear the word "Go!" often. Some of the themes flowing through the lessons include baptism, breaking of bread together, peace, and walking with God. Time taken to read the lessons before the service starts will help you to grow with the season. Summer is a place of abundance, a growing time of light, play and wonder. Be Green in God.
